Violent storms ripped through Springfield, IL on June 29, 2023 leaving widespread damage and power outages. On Friday morning, UAct began working with Ward 2 Alderman Shawn Gregory to develop a strategy to assist the most needy families. Days later, UAct put out a request for support to some local generous donors and, together with our donation, we raised over $10,800. With that, we purchased $50 food certificates from Humphrey’s Market and County Market, both whom themselves donated to the cause, and have been distributing certificates to needy families in the urban core.
